The China-Central Asia Railway (Wuhan) launched its first dedicated liquid bag container train, delivering edible oil directly to Wuhan; return trains are now operating regularly

On March 11, a dedicated container train loaded with high-quality sunflower seed oil from Central Asia slowly pulled into Wuhan Xianglushan Station, marking the first time the Central Asia-China Railway Express (Wuhan) has used liquid-bag container transport to directly deliver imported edible oil to the heart of Central China. This is not only an innovative breakthrough in transportation methods but also signifies the official commencement of regular operation for the "Central Asia-Xianglushan" return train brand.

This dedicated train utilizes internationally advanced liquid-bag container transport technology, directly filling the edible oil into disposable, environmentally friendly liquid bags and transporting it door-to-door using standard containers. Compared to traditional canning or barrelling, liquid-bag technology places flexible storage tanks within standard containers, with each container capable of carrying 26 tons of liquid cargo. This approach combines safety and economy, effectively solving the problems of high losses and costs associated with transporting liquid goods such as edible oil.

For Hubei and the central region, this train's arrival represents not only the arrival of goods but also an exploration of an upgraded supply chain model. The successful arrival of this special train carrying liquid-bag edible oil signifies that high-quality agricultural products from Central Asia can enter the Chinese hinterland market more efficiently and at a lower cost, further enriching people's dining tables.

The "Central Asia-Xianglushan" train service, a key return freight brand cultivated by Hubei Railway Group, is gradually building a smooth, high-frequency, and stable international logistics channel. Since August 2025, Hubei Railway Group International Transportation Co., Ltd. has operated 63 China-Europe (Asia) freight trains from Xianglushan Station, continuously improving train frequency, cargo categories, and service levels, injecting strong momentum into Hubei's high-quality development in the Belt and Road Initiative. In the future, more Central Asian agricultural products can be transported downstream to urban clusters along the Yangtze River Economic Belt via a combination of rail and water transport.

According to the head of Hubei Railway Group International Transportation Co., Ltd., the liquid-bag transportation model will be promoted and applied in subsequent train services, covering multiple categories such as vegetable oil, food-grade liquids, and chemical intermediates. In the future, we will explore a dual-drive model of "public freight trains + customized enterprise services" to attract more market players to participate in the construction of international logistics channels, jointly enhance the brand influence of "Central Asia - Xianglu Mountain," and provide a more stable and higher-quality guarantee of imported goods for the regional consumer market.
